A nice ride in Monferrato, among little-known villages, but rich in history and food and wine excellence. Wines, meats, typical sweets, everything on the way, all to be discovered!
Meeting: at 9.00 am – Cascina Castlet – Costigliole d’Asti
We will start together from a historic winery of Costigliole d’Asti, Cascina Castlet led for half a century by an innovative and courageous woman, Mariuccia Borio, who has collected an important legacy and over the years has been able to create her wines trying to give an image and a new connotation to her products, but without ever forgetting the quality, award-winning its labels. Guest of the Cooperative Le Ali winery who will offer us their delicious bakery products, such as biscuits, breadsticks and all the other delicious sweet and savory specialties based on hazelnuts and local and selected raw materials.
We will then head towards Isola d’Asti, its name recalls the sea… but today, here in Isola d’Asti, the only waves that can be seen by scrutinizing the horizon they are those formed by the green hills of vineyards and woods, which chase each other as far as the eye can see, moving the gaze away again and again … until it merges and merges, down there, at the bottom. Before tasting a second winery we will arrive at the Agrimacelleria “L’Isola della Carne”, where it will be possible to taste one of the most valuable and proud products of Piedmontese and Asti gastronomy, the meat of Fassone Piemontese, the company in fact offers an excellent product, bred in the same farm owned and located next to the butcher’s shop.
After having personally tested and tasted the high quality of Piedmontese meats, famous all over the world, we will head to the I Divini Farm in Isola d’Asti. Here we will meet the young and enthusiastic owners: Koen and Anna, two Belgian boys in love with Italy, Piedmont and Isola d’Asti, who have decided to invest their future right here, with a winery that speaks of tradition, cultivation without the use of chemicals and native vines, in total harmony with the environment and the history of this land, that they have learned to love and respect, producing excellent wines, such as Barbera, Freisa, Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo.
From here it will take just a few rides to find us at the Tartaglino Alessandro Winery, where the vineyards have been cultivated for seven generations and typical wines such as Barbera d’Asti and Grignolino or special products such as Vermouth, Passito di Brachetto and a very special Classic Method from 100% Pinot Noir grapes are produced. Family-run company that reserves a unique welcome for its guests.
After a few glasses and a bit of well-deserved relaxation it will be time to get back on the bike to return to Costigliole, we will cross the hills that branch off and overlap as far as the eye can see, we will look out over open and verdant valleys and we will arrive in Fraz. S.Anna, where the Azienda Agricola Massimo Bo will welcome us in the name of taste and friendship.
Here we can taste excellent typical wines such as Barbera d’Asti DOCG or Moscato d’Asti DOCG and then leave, crossing again the sea of surrounding hills, almost to sail immersed in the green and peace of these areas up to the Cascina Fiore Farm which, in addition to the fine local wines, also deals with the production of grape and apple juices, of an excellent grappa based on Moscato d’Asti and a wonderful Classic Method, a complete offer that will satisfy young and old.
After this visit we will continue towards the return to Costa d’Asti, where there will again be Cascina Castlét waiting for us and where we will have the opportunity to do our last tasting of exquisitely Asti wines!
Travel and ride with us in Monferrato!
